Italian Pewter
The beauty and versatility of pewter has made it an enduring favorite since ancient times. Italian pewter craftsmanship is particularly prized, with a tradition that dates to the 12th century when the Venetian pewter guild established Europe's highest standards for production and artistry. The manufacturing process has changed little over the centuries and remains much the same in our pewter workshop in northern Italy.
Artisans start at the crucible where molten tin, and copper are combined with antimony, a hardening agent which replaced lead in the 1970’s. Multiple components are individually cast, then painstakingly welded and polished to create seamless, softly burnished objects with timeless appeal.
